Following Divine Liturgy on Forgiveness Sunday, We gathered together in the hall for a Maslanitsa hosted by Fr. Igor and Mat. Anna. On the menu were lovely blini filled with mushrooms, or cabbage, or cheese and some with cherries. Mat. Anna also made her delicious vegetable salad. For dessert, Sonja Finno baked a scrumptious home made carrot birthday cake in honor of Fr. Igor’s birthday. After the Maslanitsa, we all went back into the church for our Forgiveness Vespers to start our Lenten journey together, asking each other for forgiveness. Forgiveness Vespers tells us: “The grace of the Lord has shone forth, the grace which illumines our souls. This is the acceptable time; the time of repentance is here.”
"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. (1 John 10:10-12)
