St. John’s has on hand 8 large round folding tables that are not being used. They each seat 10 people. These tables are available free of charge to any Orthodox church parish in the area that can pick them up and transport them to their church. Two racks on which they are stored will also be given away with the tables. Along with the tables and the racks are tablecloths that can be used on these tables. A Church School teacher's conference sponsored by the Orthodox Christian Education Commission was held at Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church in Wayne on Saturday, October 30. It was well attended by all jurisdictions and many subjects were discussed. The meeting started with the following prayer:
Prayer of the Optina Elders
Lord, grant me to meet in spiritual peace everything which the coming day brings to me.
Grant that I may fully accept Your holy will.
At every hour of this day and in all things teach and support me.
Whatever may be the news I receive in the course of the day, teach me to accept them with a calm soul and with the firm conviction that Your holy will is in all things.
In all my words and actions guide my thoughts and feelings.
In all unforeseen circumstances do not allow me to forget that all are sent down by You.
Teach me to act honestly and wisely with everyone, without embarrassing or embittering anyone.
Lord, grant me the strength to endure the fatigue of the coming day and all events in the course of the day.
Guide my will and teach me to pray, to believe, to hope, to be patient, to forgive, and to love.
Amen.
