News from St. John's............

Excerpts from Father’s Message for September follow: …”September 1, the beginning of the New Ecclesiastical Year is that moment in time when we should take a closer look at how we are using this life God has given us. Are we focused on things spiritual or are we strolling through life as though there were no tomorrow?

Being honest to ourselves, we have to admit that often we give all kinds of justifications as to why not to attend services on a regular basis. If it were work related, you’d be there; but, unfortunately, Church is often seen by many as something that is at the bottom of the to do list…

Generally speaking, relationships are what you put into them. If you don’t feed a relationship, it dies just like a vine that is not watered. Same principle applies to our relations with God. If you don’t place God in the heart of your week and the services in His Holy Temple as the central act of that week, how can you expect to be spiritually healthy? ……

Are you satisfied with the spiritual life that you have now, or is there something in your heart, a little God-planted seed, which tells you that there are certain things that are waiting for some adjustment?...

Now you have to do your part! Take that important step and make this the best New Spiritual Year you’ve ever had! With love in Christ, Fr. Igor” Please read the entire article in September’s Enlightener.

A very Happy Anniversary to Father and Matushka Kseniuk on September 1. Congratulations and may God grant you both Many Years!

On behalf of St. John’s, Helen Baron, our Food Pantry Coordinator, would like to thank you all for your contributions throughout the summer. God grant you all Many Years! Thanksgiving is just around the corner! Many stores have special fall sales that are worth looking into for non-perishable foods (canned or packaged) to help fill our baskets for our less fortunate neighbors.

Memorial Eternal to the Servant of God, Doreen Chanda who fell asleep in the Lord on May 31.
