News From St. John's......

Happy Birthday to all those celebrating their birthday in August.   Among those are:  Nicholas Bzik, August 2;  Andrew Fabian, August 5;  Cathy Lazorchak, August 10;  Gregory Kary, August 12;  Patricia Galley, August 14;  Marilyn Stagen, August 15;  Samuel Czech, August 17;  Peter Czech, August 22;  and Andrea Shaker, August 26.   May God grant each of you Many Years!

July started with the happy event of the Baptism and Chrismation of Grayson Edward Petrow, son of  joyful parents, Jessica and Gregory, and Grandson of proud grandparents Kathy and George Petrow. May our Lord God grant Grayson Edward a prosperous and peaceful life, good health, and safety and also to his sponsors, parents, and grandparents and preserve them all for Many Years!  Pictures of the event are in the Photo Gallery.

We all miss Matushka Anna’s great smile and friendly face and their beautiful children, Sofia and Maxim, as they visit relatives in Europe; and we pray that they will have a pleasant trip.  May God deliver and protect them from all danger and misfortune and  bring them all home healthy and safe.

Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. on August 15 for the feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos.  In preparation for this feast day, parish confessions will be heard on Saturday, August 12 at 5:00 p.m.  Be aware that the Beheading of St. John the Baptist which is on Tuesday, August 29, is a STRICT fast day.  Divine Liturgy will be at 9:00 a.m. on August 29.

The Food Pantry is always in need of food items.  Please keep those less fortunate in mind and help us to feed those in need.  May God bless you abundantly for your generosity.

Enjoy your vacation but remember to visit the Orthodox Church at your destination.  To search for a local parish go to http://www.orthodoxyinamerica.org/and enter your location in the search panel.  If you plan to receive Holy Communion, be sure that the priest knows who you are before the Divine Liturgy.  It is always good form to approach the Chalice knowing that the priest is informed about you.   Have a wonderful vacation.
