News from St. John's.......

The following is Fr. Igor’s message from the June Enlightener:  Glory to Jesus Christ!  Glory Forever!

I invite everyone, just like for the feast of holy Pascha, to come to Church, kneel down, and complete the desire of your spirit by being in church on June 4.  Why the 4th of June at 9:00 a.m.?  Because it is the celebration of PENTECOST.

The words of “Christ is Risen” and “Indeed He is Risen” will just be words on our lips if we do not fulfill the purpose of the celebration of Pentecost.  Will you come?  Will you answer the call of your heart’s desire to be loved and to love God?  Who or what will stop you from coming to Church?

On the day of Pentecost, it is the Holy Spirit Who endows the members of the Church with varieties of spiritual gifts for their illumination and satisfaction.  This is why the Christian invokes, in times of joy and in times of sorrow, the Holy Spirit – to strengthen his faith with His Grace, in order to accomplish his purpose in life.  The faithful member of the Church should pray humbly that he will not be led astray by “movements” outside the Church, where there is no salvation.  The desperate need of the people today is that they would be reawakened to the realization that they already possess the greatest spiritual gift they can be given – their Christian faith.

I am looking forward to seeing you all in Church.  Come and receive this great blessing, so that you may also be filled with the life and Grace of the Holy Spirit!

Wishing you a wonderful and blessed summer.  With Love in Christ,  Fr. Igor

The next Trustees’ Meeting will be held on September 19.  Barbara Kary thanks everyone for their prayers, cards, and get well wishes regarding her recent surgery.  Many Years to you all!

Helen Baron, our Food Pantry Coordinator thanks everyone for continuing your help to our neighbors in need.  Please continue your generous donations during the summer months.  The need is always present.  Many Years!

Enjoy your vacation but remember to visit the Orthodox Church at your destination.  To search for a local parish go to www.orthodoxyinamerica.organd enter your location in the search panel.  If you plan to receive Holy Communion, be sure that the priest knows who you are before the Divine Liturgy.  It is always good form to approach the Chalice knowing that the priest is informed about you.   Have a wonderful and safe summer!
