Christmas at St. John's

Christmas at St. John's

December 25th, Christmas, 2011, a glorious celebration of the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ to a young virgin named Mary.  In a dusty cave, she brought forth her new born son to an audience of stable animals.  Joseph, depicted in an icon as contemplating the little boy’s future, while being taunted by Satan, sits outside.  Angels arrive singing the joyous message and telling shepherds in the nearby fields of this astounding event.

We, at St. John’s celebrated the birth by prayer, singing and the sharing of the Eucharist  at the Divine Liturgy served by Fr. Sophrony.  Joyous voices rang out in praise of our new born Savior and expressed thanksgiving to our Lord for His wondrous gift.

Following Divine Liturgy, a light lunch was prepared for everyone who gathered in the hall to wish each other happiness and God’s blessings.  Pictures of those who joined in the fellowship in the hall are shown in the photo gallery.   Many thanks go to Mary Ann Stagen, Betty Hatsko, and Marilyn Stagen for the delicious lunch they arranged and may God grant them Many Years!
