NJ District FOCA Convention - Great Vespers  with Litiya for the feast day of Synaxis of the Archangel Michael and the Others - Angels were created as messengers of God.  The Scriptures reveal that God created nine orders of angels:  Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, Dominations, Principalities, Powers, Virtues, Archangels, and Angels.  Feast for Synaxis of the Archangel Michael and the Others – Angels were created as messengers of God.  The Scriptures reveal that God created nine orders of angels:  Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, Dominations, Principalities, Powers, Virtues, Archangels, and Angels.  Out of this order came the familiar seven Archangels which include Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Raguel, Sariel, and the fallen Lucifer.  The Archangel Michael is the outstanding figure in the eyes of the Orthodox Church and is depicted in the many houses of worship in an icon always on the extreme left where he is pictured as a guardian of Paradise from whence Adam and Eve were evicted.  Archangel Michael also was the messenger who warned Lot to flee from the wicked cities of Sodom and Gomarrah.  Michael’s many miracles are commemorated by the church on September 6 of each calendar year.

Divine Liturgy - Entrance of the Theotokos into the Temple - In His wisdom, God selected the Virgin Mary to be the Mother of God not from the nobility but from the humble, thoroughly devout parents whose names were Joachim and Anna.  They presented their daughter to the holy Temple at the age of three on the 21st of November.  She remained in the house of God for twelve years, emerging at the age of fifteen with a purity and wholesomeness found in no other creature of God.

Thanksgiving Day - Almightly and merciful God, I most humbly and heartily thank Thy divine majesty for Thy loving kindness and tender mercies, that Thou hast heard my humble prayer, and graciously vouchsafed to deliver me from my trouble and misery.  Grant me, I beseech Thee, Thy helping grace, that I may obediently walk in Thy holy commandments, and lead a sober, righteous and godly life, ever remembering Thy mercies, and the blessings Thou thas undeservedly bestowed upon me, that I may continually offer Thee the sacrifice of praise and thanksgiiving, O Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.

Divine Liturgy - Martyr Paramon and his companions Ven. Acacius of Sinai - The Holy Martyr Paramon and 370 Martyrs with him suffered for their faith in Christ in the year 250 during the rule of emperor Decius.  They were locked in prison and were urged to abjure Christ and instead offer sacrifice to idols.  They subjected the captives to  beatings, hoping by torture and the threat of death to persuade them to renounce Christ and worship the pagan gods.  They beheaded St. Paramon after fierce tortures, together with the other 370 martyrs.
